A Midwest Event Planner Experience Recap
Earlier this week, we hosted 100 Years of Route 66: Roadmaps & Revelry at The Art Institute of Chicago, welcoming event planners from across the Midwest for an immersive experience designed to feel like a journey from the very first step.
The concept was simple. Events are not just a single moment.
They are a journey. So we built one.
The Details That Set the Tone
We leaned into creativity with multiple themed passing trays designed to feel unexpected, playful, and visually striking. Each one added a layer of storytelling and set the tone for what guests were about to experience.

A rolling gas pump cocktail cart brought the bar to guests, serving up Route 66–inspired drinks and quickly becoming a crowd favorite.
We also included a Route 66 souvenir shop and a post office station where guests could write and send postcards. Small moments that added personality and nostalgia throughout the experience.
Illinois
First Stop on the Mother Road: Illinois Wing & Waffle Station. A nod to where it all begins, this station inspired by Lou Mitchell’s brought classic diner energy. Warm, nostalgic, and the perfect way to kick things off.

Missouri
The Gateway City Stop: STL Breakfast Pizza. St. Louis style pizza, but make it elevated. Thin cracker crust, tangy sweet sauce, and plenty of Provel. Comfort food that always delivers.

Oklahoma
A Cultural Stop Along the Way: BYO Navajo Tacos. A meaningful stop highlighting Native American culinary traditions and the history behind them. Rooted in resilience, culture, and deep connection to place.

New Mexico
The Flavor Stop: Hatch Skillets. All about Hatch chile. Smoky, bold, and unmistakable. The kind of flavor that instantly defines the region.

California
Final Stop on the Mother Road: Tartine Bar. Fresh, bright, and ingredient driven. Citrus, seasonal produce, and coastal influence brought this journey to
a vibrant close.
