When we say “old school” this is what we mean: a classic vintage gymnasium — from the original ticket windows and wall tile to the improbably graceful arch of the open-beam ceiling — reimagined as a picture-perfect venue for events of all kinds. We’ve lovingly preserved the past, and added details chosen with a modern eye and an event-planner’s expertise, to offer everything you need to host an incredible wedding, bar or bat mitzvah, a blowout birthday party or anything else your party-giver’s imagination can dream up.

In chicago, outdoor entertaining space is pure gold — and a tucked-away, modernist courtyard space tricked out with one-of-a-kind art and artifacts is a real midsummer night’s dream. Throw in lush landscaping, an intimate european vibe, vintage outdoor furnishings, a bar at the ready for your dirty martini or aged negroni … and your summer reads book club (heck, even your office picnic) just got sexy. We’ll meet you under the twinkle lights.

You’re a team builder, a card player, a baby shower planner or a host whose dinner parties have outgrown their dining room — lucky for you, we’ve got a classroom for that. Each of our eight spaces are unique and include vintage architectural details like original tiles and lighting, slate chalkboards, cork boards, and wood cabinetry. Furnished with antiques from the architectural artifacts collection, each classroom creates a one-of-a-kind setting for hosting up to 30 people, complete with everything you need to welcome guests to your annual beastie boys breakfast or monthly origami throw-down. And if you’ll be working up an appetite, you can pre-order from our cafe and arrive to a ready-set, downright delicious spread
